joining farm partially works

Hello,

I'm having a Citrix PS3.0 farm here with 3 servers.

The servers need to be replace so I thought I joined my new PS4.5 to the same farm.

The server got added and can be seen in the PS Management Console.

Although discovery of the old server on the 4.5 doesn't seem to work and responds with a RPC server not available.

It is impossible what I'm trying to do here and should I setup a complete new farm instead?

Oh and if anyone is bored and willing to help over IRC/MSN then be my guest

So let me get this straight....
You have 3 PS 3.0 servers that you want to migrate to your new 4.5 farm?

Or do you want your 4.5 server to your 3.0 farm?

Not really clear on which one you are trying to accomplish.

If you want to join your PS 3.0 servers to your 4.5 farm, you can simply uninstall Citrix from those servers and install the new 4.5 and join it to the farm....that simple.

If you want to join your 4.5 server to your 3.0 farm.....my question would be "why?".

Just migrate your 3.0 to 4.5 and be done with it. You'll be on the latest version and wouldn't have to worry about end-of-life dates on 3.0 (IMO).

for some reason it was freaking out.

so I just created a new farm for the new servers which worked fine without any problems.

the old farm will vanish when those old servers get replaced by these new ones so the join to the old farm wat not really needed after all.
