Join SBS domain via VPN

How do i join SBS domain using

http://servername/connectcomputer

via a VPN connection. Get error that i must disconnect VPN or dail-up and use the LAN connection.
I can ping SBS by name and IP from remote site.

I can however join the pc manually to our SBS domain but is that the correct way of joining pc to SBS domain?

Did you get a resolution to this?

I am getting really close to connecting a machine over a router to router vpn but I am falling at the final hurdle.
