Jobs fail without any error messages in log file

I'm running Back Up Exec version 8.6 on a Windows 2000 Server. For some reason, my jobs show up with a status of "Job failed". However, when I review the job log there is absolutely no indication of any problem. I even went through the entire list of words that Veritas has put up on their Knowledge Base article about typical words to search for in the log file that would lead to a status of failure but didn't find any of these words.
Any ideas ?
