I know there have been quite a few posts relating to this, but I can not find any reference to my problems, so here goes.
We support roughly 110 servers worldwide, using Arcserve 2000 AE at SP3 (some at SP4 to try to resolve these errors - to no avail). We are running Win2k server with terminal services in admin mode on all, running SP2. Antivirus is supplied by Symantec Norton Antivirus. All servers are compaq using Adaptec SCSI boards with HP single DLT drives and Ultrium libraries of the 8 tape and 20 tape flavour.
Our symptoms are as follows. We configure a back up job for each day of the week Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, with Fri being a full backup and Mon-Thu being differentials. The jobs are backing up multiple servers. In some cases it is only backing up itself, and in some it may back up as many as 10 servers. The jobs hang intermittently, some either go to the crashed state and go 'On Hold', some jobs stay active (requiring asrunjob to be killed or jobs deleted from 00000001.qsd). This happens at different times, sometimes it's on the first drive, sometimes in the middle or at the end, but it typically puts the job on hold with the status of crashed.
We have had mixed success by seperating drives to individual jobs ie one job for C: one for D: etc, which as you can imagine is laborious. The one thing we have repeatadley seen is in the Job Log at the point it has crashed, it has a line that says 'Replicated From' with the value being somewhere amongst the documents and settings hierarchy. This is happening on multiple servers. In most cases, the reinstallation of Arcserve works, until it happens again, which can litteraly be the next week![Frown :( :(](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
About 75% of our servers are being affected by these problems and it is annoying, and our customers are getting pissed, understandibly, but I can't find any resolution.
I've looked in the event log and there is nothing. We've tried upgrading to SP4 and all the patches and still the same thing happens. Answers on a postcard please.
Cheers
Tim
