In ARCserve v9 (on NT4 server) non-administrator accounts are not able to view the job queues:

"The job queue is not available because the current system user doesn't have administrator rights"

We tried to put these accounts in backup operators and server operators groups but that didn't help. Only putting them in the Administrators group worked.

We are sure that in ARCserveIT 6.61 and 2000 those non-administrator accounts can view the jobs in ARCserve Manager. How to do that in ARCserve v9?

Grateful for any advices.

Thanks mohamdr. We've an special super account (with all required security rights) created for Arcserve backup jobs.

It seems that whether the job queues appear in ARCserve Manager (launched at server) depends on who is logged in at the server, not the rights of the arcserve system account. In our case only users in the Administrators group can see the job queues.

Archserve account required to be a memeber of administrators group as per the above link from CA so you have to add admin group to it.

Thanks mohamdr. In our case it is like this..

User 1: Superman (Administrators, Backup operators, Domain Admins...)

User 2: John (Server Operators, Backup operators)

User 3. Peter (Administrators)

We don't use Superman to login at server interactively. ARCserve uses Superman as system account. All backup jobs run well without any security problems.

When John logs on at the server and launches ARCserve, he cannot see the job queues.

When Peter logs on at the server and launches ARCserve, he sees all the job queues.

John is an computer operator who monitors (but not changes) the backup jobs. He needs to see the job queues but we cannot put him into Administrators group due to security reason.

The above configuration works (i.e. John sees the job queues without being in the Administrators group) in ARCserve6.61 and ARCserve2000. In ARCserve v9 it doesn't work however.

Any thoughts?

I wounder if there is a registry hack that will get 9.0 working like the earlier versions so Admin rights are not needed. Perhaps the release notes or the CA supportbase will have something on it.
