I have a job that executes an application and it works fine in Windows 2000 Server with Sql Server 2000.

I installed in another server but its windows server is 2003 with SQL Server 2000. The job doesn't work more, if I run the application by start run menu it works, but doesn't by cmdexec.

step command:

"s:\file.exe"

Is there something different between windows 2000 and 2003?

Not specifically. What error message are you getting?

Denny
MCSA (2003) / MCDBA (SQL 2000)
MCTS (SQL 2005 / Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: Configuration / Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007: Configuration)
MCITP Database Administrator (SQL 2005) / Database Developer (SQL 2005)

Duration 0, status failed and message "the job failed, it was invoked by user xxx", in the other words, no specific error. Even setting an output file, it isn't generated.

does the event viewer on the server show any authentication errors or such. You have to remember windows 2003 is not as wide open as windows 2000 was. Security is a bit different and much more controlled and you'll need to know what in detail you are required to give access to. In your case it sounds like the account executing the job just does not have external resource rights

Is S a mapped drive or a local drive?
