This Monday, December 5, I have an interview at an accounting firm for a network administrator position where I would join two others. I have Microsoft Windows experience and exchange/outlook. They are using Lotus Notes for their email. I have no exposure to, nor experience with, Lotus notes.

So I have some questions:
(1) If I am asked why they should hire me if I have no experience with Lotus notes, How might I reply in a very positive confident way that I am happy to learn and work with the product so that they might see me as confident and eager, rather than lacking skills in this area?
(2) Does the lotus.com website contain a lot of documentation relating to lotus notes?
(3) Just for my information why do Lotus notes users prefer lotus notes over Exchange and Outlook?
(4) If they are actually considering a move to exchange and Outlook, what has to be done in Lotus Notes? (Is it done entirely witha Lotus tool or is there good third party software for this?)(5) Even if they do not ask me why I should be hired with no Lotus notes experience should I some how try to soften this concern they might have anyways?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'll be more than happy to share what I think might help, after you provide answers to them in the forum.

Given your Lotus experience, why should they hire you?
Have you been to the lotus.com site to see what's there?
Have you read any Notes vs Exchange blogs or forums?
Have you read any case studies of those who have already mode that conversion?

Cajun, that's a lot of typing to say RTFM. [bigsmile]

I happen to agree that the OP is expecting a lot from the community without much effort on their part.

I started to compose a reply, but as I looked at each question, the same answer came up - research it! There is a huge amount of information available on this subject.

Yes, really all you have to do is Google your questions to find articles/forums on your questions.

If you prepare your answers based on your research for questions 2-5, then you can confidentally answer Question #1 with "Although I have not had the pleasure of sitting in front of a computer with Lotus Notes on it I have done a lot of research for this position on Lotus Notes and together with my experience in Outlook/Exchange..."
