Good morning.
Details:
NT 4/sp6a
Arcserve 2K, workgroup ed., build 1018
Exchange Agent
Dell P'Edge 6400 quad Xeon 4GB Ram bla bla bla...
Patches: Lo94975 and Qo06202 (both exchange related)

I've read some of the other articles regarding jobs hanging on .cat files, but I thought this particular instance was a bit different because the DB appears to be fine. From my 'research', this problem has to do with a corrupt arcserve database. I've run the VLDB utility ,dbcheck, on all DBs, but no errors were reported. If I kill the asrunjob process, I can manually use mergecat to merge my .cat files. This tells me that the DB is OK, right? Mergecat does not appear to be running in Task Manager while the job is hung. My entire DB directory is about 653MB.
I rebooted last night, but that didn't seem to do anything to fix this issue. It ran just fine up until about a week ago.
Thanks for the help fellas.

Try disabling antivirus, removing .cat files from arcserve-temp folder or mergecat...Disable any parallel application while runnin the backup...
hope it helps
All the best...
