Job Failed: The owner does not have server access 1

hi experts,

I am the owner of a job that has been running without fail for months.

Over the weekend it failed with this error message:
"The job failed. The owner () of job TAHOE GM Shrink Data File does not have server access"

-Note there is no owner within the () parenthesis.
-Because I'm the DBA, I dont know of any security/login changes.
-I can still create tables in this database/server under my login so I obviously DO have server access.

We did have a power outage over the weekend.
I plan to reboot tonight to see if that resolves this problem.

Anyone have a clue as to what else may be the cause?

Check the job itself. Make sure the part where it says Run As, still has your login (SELF) or DBO. That may have gotten changed somehow.

I've seen this happen before. From what I've been able to figure out the SQL Server forgets who the job owner is, even though it's set correctly in the job properties.

Edit the job, change the owner, save the job, then change the owner back, and all "should" clear up.

I've got no idea what the root cause of the problem is.

All it took was to flip the owner and then change back to myself - now the job runs.

I'll blame it on the power failure... and the full moon
