Hi all,

My thanks in advance for any subsequent posts and for reading this post.

Ok I know this could be a fairly difficult problem to troubleshoot, so please bear with me, any help on this is greatly appreciated.

**** The setup ****
*******************

We are currently in the process of upgrading out Financials Systems to 11.5.10. The backend database is now a full 10g install, and I think the apps side is getting on completed. We are running on Solaris 5.8 with a 2 node install (web front end and database backend).

Anyhow we are having problems with Jinitiator (we are using 1.1.8.16 currently across all systems), essentially the problem (as has been described to me) is that, when the people who are working on the financials end go for lunch or do something else for a while and log out of financials. Anyhow when they log in again, they carn't seem to access the front end applets. When they reinstall Jinitator and put the certificate file in the right place (we havn't repackaged jinitator; since we are still upgrading).

The one thing that makes this whole thing a bit diffcult is that we are supporting US users and we are in the UK, but the major problem this creates is that it is a bit diffcult to keep a track of the polices that the IT dept over there are doing. We are pretty sure that they are auditing software that is on users pc's and removing anything thats not needed (maybe jinitator is being removed (I guess I need to seek further info from the users).

**** QUESTION ****
******************

The questions I have are:

1. Has anyone had this problem/resolved it? (the techis and users are getting a bit fed up of it!)

2. Do you think we are using the correct version of Jinitiator?

Thanks for reading this rather lengthy post, and again any posts are much appreciated.

Thanks again,

Hi all,

further to my last post the problem is that when the users log into the front end and click on a link for an applete they get:

exception: null

on the status bar at the bottom left hand corner of Internet Exploerer. This is resolved by re-installing Jinitiator.

Thanks again for reading and any posts,
