JFS2 in AIX5.3 with 32bit kernel -> Why not?

Ok, so far I do know, that IBM does not recommend the use of JFS2 Filesystems with an activated 32bit Kernel. I decided it to use it anyway and tried to activate it in an NIM installation in the proper bosinst_data file with the stanza "CREATE_JFS2_FS = yes".

The installation took the right bosinst_data file ( I found it later in /var/adm/ras ... ), but it does not care about the stanza if you do not activated a 64bit kernel.

So, whether you have a good reason not to use it or a workaround for this problem?

Thx in advance

JFS2 is better tuned to a 64 bit kernel.

But you can use it: install 64bit and JFS2, then after install, revert to 32bit kernel. ("howto go back to 32bit kernel" is described on other (older) threads on this site and numerous other sites...

Hehe, nice idea, p5wizard, but there is a reason behind, that I do not use the 64bit kernel, and that is, because I do not the appropriate hardware for that.

A 7025-F50 just can take the 32bit kernel, no way to install the 64bit kernel..

Any other ideas??

There was a discussion here on how to "pimp my mksysb" in order to reinstall a JFS-system-backup into a JFS2-system by modifying some stanzas in mksysb config file image.data and/or bosinst.data.

All I can think of right now.
