Hi Guys,

I have a Jetway V400DB system board with DDR RAM (no SDRAM option). The BIOS setup has an option in the section for setting of RAM timings (CAS latency, etc.) to specify RAM bank interleave. The options are: -
Disabled
2 Bank
4 Bank

The board has 3 memory slots. I have 2 identical PC2700 256MB DDR RAM sticks. Naive little me thinks that 2 identical sticks should allow 2 bank interleave.

Someone please tell me if this reasoning is flawed. The system works regardless of the choice of bank interleave prompting me to think that this might be a 'Don't care' situation.

The '4 bank' option should give the best performance, and the 'Disabled' option should give the least performance.
If the system runs stably using '4 bank', then just leave it that way.

Thanks Ski. I assume that 4 bank interleaving implies that there are effectively two internal banks in each RAM stick. Can you confirm this hypothesis please?

Thanks Ski, that's just what I wanted. I would not have found this information without your help.

It is confirmation that interleaving takes place within a single RAM stick. I used to associate interleaving with separate sticks which had to be indentical.

You're welcome, euston.
Glad to be of help.
