Hi, I've recently acquired a Jetway Riva TNT 2 for my PC (PII 400MHz, PCChips M729 MB, 384MB SDRAM). I've tryed installing it under WinXP PRO SP2, but I get some strange results depending on the driver version I use. My system crashes, but not at the same time - it sometimes crashes when I open a video file, or when I play a game or even when I'm in Explorer. Could this be a driver problem (although I've tryed about 20 different versions) or an incompatibility with my PC? I'll appreciate your help. Thanks.

If I recall correctly, there may be hardware compatibility issues between your mobo and the TNT card. If you can identify the chipset used on your mobo, you can surely google and find something about it.

I remember stickers on Riva boxes warning the buyer to not use it with certain chipsets.

The same way as my old ATI Rage 128 had a hardware issue with the Via chipset that was on my mobo. Only a special ATI driver version was made to support the combination, under Win98SE. I would not even try to run WinXP on this system.

Aside from increasing the ram, why not run win xp on this pc?

Sorry, I meant my own system with the Rage128, although it is quite similar to FireDKs. It ran fine under Win2K, although all I ran on it was older apps like Office 97.

Driver tweaks, like AGP patches, may be necessary for older hardware but will never be released under XP for older mobos and graphics cards. It is a case by case story.

Sorry, didnt realize you were talking about your system, lol.
