I have a windows network which I would call peer to peer.

I have win2k server setup as a file server without Active Directory installed.

The win2kserver box has an HP LJ 4000 attatched to it through the lan and Jet Direct.

Other machines (win2kpro and win98) attach to the printer via the shared win2kserver.

Other machines can print to this printer just fine in windows but not in DOS apps - which is what I really need to do.

I have installed Client Services for Netware - as it is my understanding that this is required to use the NET USE command - which is I understand THE answer to my problem (corrections welcome)

On my win2kPRO box I can print to the dos app once I define LPT1 with "NET USE LPT1 \\servername\hplj4000"

On my win98 box nothing will print until I exit the application whereupon printing begins immeiately

In addition, on the win2kpro box, the program seems to take quite a bit longer to exit then is does without the NET USE command enabled.

Lastly, while I am able to print from the win2kpro box - it takes 30-40 seconds for the first page to start printing.

suggestions and discussions appreciated and welcome.
