Hi All Solaris Experts

I have set up and installed printers on server A using jetadmin (hppi) JetDirect Printer Installer for UNIX
**** ]]]]] ]]]]] **** Version E.10.34

I have then transfered all config (spooler queues) from server A to Server B.

I can print to these printers on Server B however when i try and modify existing printer using hppi (jetadmin) menu it thinks the printer is not set up, due to the following mesg:-

Enter the lp destination name (q - quit): corp_finsys_01

corp_finsys_01 does not exist!
If you want to create a new queue, please use option 3.

Weird.

Since you move from server A to B
I suggest you just set up a remote printer on Server A and point to the jet admin queue
use

lpadmin -p <printer name> -s corp_finsys_01#<jet admin printer name>

remember to add the ip of corp_finsys_01 to the /etc/host table

Hi Schu

I initially set up in jetadmin on server A and required to set up the printers again on server B. So instead of installing them again 1 by 1 on server by, jetadmin allow you to do a transfer of print queues. I did this, and they seem to work, via lp -d <printername>.

However through jetadmin i am unable to recognise them being set up as a priint queue! I did not add them via lpadmin.

S

have you read the TRANSFER.UNX file in jetadmin root (i.e. /opt/hpnpl/TRANSFER.UNX)?

it has detailed instructions for transferring queues from one workstation to another.

Yes, i followed all instructions and transfered the queues with success!!

I am able to dump to the printer from unix, however when i try and modify the queue from jetadmin it thinks the printer does not exist!!

Oops - looks like some of the threads are getting mixed up, this might get confusing!!!
