I need to setup a epson 3000 printer on a 3 mac ethernet network. (I think they are runing either OS8 or OS9)

The Mac's are currently setup with TCP/IP capabilities, and can share files with each other.
We want to (if we can) setup the epson to use a HP JetDirect box (300x). The only way I know how to do this is with JetAdmin on a NT server.

The software that comes w/ the box only gives the option to install laserjet printers. (when opened on a mac)

Thanks

If you are able to set an IP address on that printer & plug it into the network, you should be able to see it in the chooser once you have installed the laserwriter drivers and select the laserwriter in the chooser. You'll need to choose the correct PPD file but otherwise it should work fine.

First thing I'd do is chuck the printer on the network, install the laserwriter drivers on one of your macs and just see if you can see the printer. If not, and that epson 3000 has a panel you can use to set the network options, your next step is enabling TCP/IP on the printer etc.

Thanx.. I ended up seting it up with a D-Link DP-101. It's only $80 compaired to the JetDirect box costing $280. I was able to see it after installing IPX/SPX on a box, and then used the software to configure the IP. After that, it showed up in the chooser no prob.
