jdk1.3 path

i need to set the path in my windows 2000 server environment.
here the step that i went through
1) settings -> control panel -> system
2) advance tab -> environment variables

in here i am going to the system variable
1) new
2) variable name as "set path"
3) variable value as "d:\jdk1.3\bin"

but still that this giving error -> "javac is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable command or batch file."

anything goes wrong?

1) The correct environment variable name is 'PATH', and this should already exist. (You shouldn't have to click the 'New...' button)
2) After updating the PATH variable, try rebooting.

thank you very much varocho. i just deleted the path that i created and edit the old path and now its already working.
