As an Oracle DBA totally ignorant of JAVA, is there a valid argument I can use to persuade my management to standardize on JDEVLOPER rather than IBM Visual age? Does JD work better with Oracle databases? Does Jdeveloper lend itself better to a third party source control librarian product? Is it dificult to convert apps from VA to JD - would someone want to? Is project development using Oracle db's any easier to control or manage using JD instead of VA? Are there other considerations when making the choice I am missing? I am talking small to medium scale projects with db's that may scale up to several GB

Ray,

I am in the same boat as you are ... not much java background ...

Have you had any luck with JDeveloper ? ... There always
seems to be alot of press and information on yechnet.oracle.com.

Our shop currently uses IPlanet ... some think that JDeveloper may be easier with its BC4J and Wizards.

Have you had any exprience with it ?
