Hello and thanks in advance for your help.

Here's the History:

Previously, I was using gigabytes motherboard GA-7N400Pro which has on-board RAID IDE slots. I believed that I could add more drives by using the RAID slots configured as "JBOD" and it would accomplish the same effect as adding and ATA IDE Expansion Card. My boot drive was set up in a ATA IDE slot, while the remaining 3 drives were set up as JBOD and used as secondary storage. Practically, it worked, until my motherboard gave out and I had to buy a new one.

The new board is Gigabyte's GA-K8NSC-939, which is capable of RAID, but does not offer the option "JBOD" in the BIOS and also does not have on-board RAID IDE Slots. When I add the drives to a normal ATA IDE slot, the BIOS detects them, but they appear in the Computer Management console as empty partitions with no data (100% free space). When trying to access the drives, i get an error message, "F:/ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." What's interesting is that the drive letter is acknowledged (F), but the volume label is gone (it was labeled "music", but is now labeled "local disk").

How can I convert my JBOD drives back to normal so my ATA IDE slots will access the data properly?

Also, is the solution for me to purchase a RAID expansion card for my new motherboard? I would like to find another solution if possible because of the price. Would imaging the drive to another drive work? Is there a file to edit that I can access through recovery console to tell the computer not to configure the JBOD? Help!

Thanks.dreandre

If the price for a JBOD compatible RAID controller card is too expensive, then another option is to buy your old MB. Newegg sells them for around $50.
Otherwise, you're probably looking at a data recovery $ervice.
