My old touchscreens work okay, but they are far from perfect. Has anyone ever had the touchscreen in their LC touch replaced/repaired? What's the most economic route to go here?

I was never a huge of fan of the Javelins, but I'll admit, my experience with dates a few years back. I wasn't even aware they were still making them.. but after I read your post, I googled them and apparently they are still around.

Repair vs. purchase... the age-old question. Depends how old it is, I guess... if it's more than 3 years old, I'd ride it out until it dies. Obviously, it depends on exactly what the problem is, but fixing all-in-ones can be kinda pricey. That's one of the big detractions against them... anything other than a hard drive failure, we have to send them out to someone else. We've used repairs a lot of this stuff, and we've had decent experience with them (they did actually lose one of our terminals once, however... took a long time to get it back). But when the units did come back (lol), they appeared properly repaired and ran well in the field. I'd call them and ask for a quote. If it was my Javelin, and it was in 200-250ish range to repair it, and the PC was solid other than the touch... I'd consider it. Much more than that, forget it (again, I am assuming it is 3-5 years old).

Hope this helps!

Javelin has replacement touchscreen overlays for $140. Funny, I could buy two more complete units for the price of one touchscreen repair. Can't say I'm surprised.

For anyone who's interested. It looks like the overlays in my LCs are Model no: E274HL-792 and part number: 00274HL-792. Watch the markup on eBay.

Javelin LCs uses standard ELO 5-Wire glass, which can be ordered from any vendor who sells ELO. I believe they are around $70 each. ELO changed part numbers for the Glass, so the part number on the glass probably is the old one. My company sold and serviced many LCs. The problem is not finiding the Glass or even Bulbs, but the LCD Inverter.

Has anybody purchased one of these lately? What's the new part number, if any? Also, what vendor would you recommend?

Our company dealt with these guys for a while: They sell an odd assortment of such products (including the old Javelin Wedge, if I am not mistaken). If he doesn't sell parts you're looking for, he might be able to direct you to a someone can.

Good luck.

TouchWindow has them for $104.00. That's almost $40 off the price from Javelin! Thanks for the tip!
