Hi,

I read a thread about a week ago but didn't have time to ask something. Peple were saying you shouldn't use javascript to insert menus into a page because search engines can't see them. What shouldI use then? I use javascript because you can change all the menus for a site in one spot. Am I on the wrong track?

Hi mate,

A search engine reads the source of the page, so no scripts are executed for them.

If you want to keep it easy for updating, use a server-side language and have the menus in a template file.

Hope this helps

Thanks, by server side language you mean asp, php etc don't you.

SSI uses .shtml file extensions - this would be the simplest solution and probably the cheapest in respect of hosting costs as you may need to pay more for other server side languages that commonly use databases for storing data.
