Just finished building a client image gallery with dozens of image rotators by theme, magazine article, & link rotators. Works well in english & german. It looked good, until I had to fill my arrays with lines like:

» ‚©‚Ȃ́@‚¶‚ñ‚»‚­@‚Ɓ@‚«‚½‚È‚¢@"ú–{Œê@‚ß‚ ‚Ä
(kanano jinsokuto kitanai nihongo meate)

This screws up my dynamically generated framesets regardless of the encoding selected. My default encoding is Japanese (Shift-JIS).

As you can guess, there are miles of japanese text, so converting everything to images is just not practical.

The right frame holds the article or image, while the left frames provides the english translation. The banner frame provides details of the item such as title, subject, comment, etc. The footer provides navigation links.

I used dense arrays, because I received the data in .CSV format & I wanted to emulate a database. Also, they worked well with the latin based alphabet:

That is my story of woe.

So, what is the solution?
