Javascript, IE6 and XP

Everything was ok, until I loaded norton's antivirus. Everything hung, uninstalled norton. Since then I cannot see javascript menu's etc in IE6. Netscape 6.2 on same machine is Ok. Any clues please.

Be sure you remove the old Java install before you install the new. Don't do an overlay installation.

I reinstalled java and it's still the same any other ideas?
