Hi,

I need to know whether it is possible to compile and run java programs in Red Hat Linux 7.2, and if yes does the java compiler and run time environment already exists or do we have to install it separately. Also where do I obtain all these for Linux platform ? Thanks.

You can download java from

http://java.sun.com.

There they have good instructions on how to install it. If you need help, I got it installed with forte. Mike Wills

The RPM is also included in most distributions, but I had to grab it from the net as well (RH 7.2) perhaps it is on the disc, but not part of the standard development package?

In anycase, goto the site above, grab the tar ball, unzip, make then "make Install"... Finish up by adding the path
