java web prob...

Hi,
a site will not load on a machine with Java VM 1.4.2_03
but will load fine with ver 1.1.4 on another machine.
I get a screen that says 'LOG0001 HOD unable to contact
HOD service manager....'

the IE security/advanced settings on each pC seem exactly same
ne help welcome - am new to java
how do i can i downgrade from ver 1.4.2?

...bit more info i need my xp pro machine setup like:

JavaScripting Enabled
JavaScript Ver. 1.3
Java VM Enabled
Java VM Ver. 1.1.4
Cookies Enabled
