Browsing sites I regularly visit has become, more, sluggish
since I installed
the last Sun Java version on about September 16, 2010.

Because Java is not a program that I work with directly ..
I'm not familiar with what I might do to help solve the
problem it may have created.

I don't have a rollback point for the previous version.

If I could I would go back to the previous version because
I'm under the impression that my sluggish browsing began
after the update.

What is your advice regarding the wisdom of 'going back'?

Can you suggest ways to verify my claim that Java is my problem?

What I've done. I looked at the Java Control Panel -
Run - Control Panel - Java

The last file date is Aug 8, 2010. I've got my
'check for updates' set at 1x / month.

I'm hesitant to upgrade to the latest version before I know
what could be problematic with the version I have. It's a
need to know that bothers me.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Old Version of Java

Have you tried running your browser without any Add-ons to see if that has any effect?

I assume you have done the basic like cleaning up your Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and History?

You could also test things from "Safe Mode with Networking", if that makes any difference then the next step would be along these lines.

To be honest with you I don't recall seeing many posts like yours where Java was the cause, but if you uninstall Java, and then test, that should answer your question.
