Java Server Pages vs Java Servlets 1

I was wondering which of the above would be a better way to deliver web content and if anyone could recommend a good free tutorial on the subjects? I'm pursuing this as a hobby so the free part is the main issue . Thanks in advance for any advice.

They are exactly the same. You should consider using both in conjunction with each other. Use the servlets for the pages which require large amounts of java code and little HTML and use JSP pages when you have minimal Java and lots of HTML.
