How do you set up a Crystal Report parameter in a RPT file such that a call to IReportParameter.isNullValueEnabled() will return true?

Effectively we are trying to create an optional or nullable parameter in the RPT that is seen as optional through the BOE API.

Thanks in advance for the advice.
