Hi all.
We all know that one of the most significant advantages of Java it's its portability: you can write once and run many times a program without caring about the underlying operative system.
Is that rigth? Well, from my experience, as long as you run away form character encodings, filesystems and permissions. graphical components and a few more, it is.
Now I'm looking for other experiences on OS changing with Java application. Any comments will be highly appreciated and a discussion is always wellcome, but I was focusing my attention in Win2K and WinXP and even mor on thread handling.
I don't know if there are differences in there, maybe I'm just getting paranoic.
Cheers,
Dian
