java on Netscape & Explorer

wuz up,

question:
when we go on netscapt or on explorer and click on a button (link) on the statusbar it say "open (onclick)" something link that it will open aq java application or so, well ..nothing happen then..

like when u go on online form where u make a test about something. after u chose the radio button, u can chose "show answer" and actl. there should show up the answer BUT nothing happen. ...

I've already instal. netscape 7.1 new but the problem is on netscape and explorer.

so whats the deal? thanks
