whenever i try to connect to a live webcam website (or other similar type pages) instead of connecting I receive the message:

Java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:LiveApplet.class

thanks for the reply and great site.........but installation of Java Volume Master caused the message 'ClassNotFoundException: jiggling' and installation was refused

are you trying the autoinstall from the sun java site ????

coz it sounds like you already have 1.3.1.x.x installed and it's damaged

go /my computer/control panal

look up the java VM logo click and open up the panal see if its working okay

my control panel did not list Java VM, went to find file but 'Java VM' not listed as such. Control panel did list a recent plug-in, Java Plug-in 1.3.1_06

......however, control panel/internet connection under advanced T\tab, Java VM, the only item checked is 'only JIT compiler for VM enabled'

neither 'Java Console enabled' nor 'Java logging enabled' are clicked......?

uninstall java runtime environment & java web start

then reinstall from

uninstalled Java runtime, downloaded from your link, a 'plug-in' fatal error report appeared.........'attachment to a running virtual machine failed'

there is a lot more going on here VM has nothinf to do with email or ie logs vm is a vos that has no interaction with the above

actually now i have IE back and maybe email connections, but pages need refreshing more often. Java runtime and web start exist in system, but still still cant contact live webcam page

As I said there is more going on here Java VM only starts when it is activated by a script file on a page .. there for uninstalling jave and reinstalling it conn't alown afect your system the way you have reported it

[1] have you run an AV prog like Norton?

[2] go into IE and make sure Jave is enabled

[3] back to java panal and enable it for IE 6

IE is connecting again, yes Java is eneabled for IE6, although still not checked are 'Java console enabled' nor 'JIT compiler for VM enabled'

Java runtime and Java webstart is back in the system although still cant connect to live webcam, that window appears empty with a small upper righthand 'X'

can you quickly jump to windows update site and install the critical updates for's IE6 (there's a few)
