I am attempting to install JDK 1.4 on a system running AIX 5.1. I am getting the below failure message within SMIT. Apparently the system is missing several needed filesets. I believe that I have located the missing filesets on CD#1 of the AIX installation media. I can't find the option within SMIT to install the individual files. Am I missing something simple?

SELECTED FILESETS: The following is a list of filesets that you asked to
install. They cannot be installed until all of their requisite filesets
are also installed. See subsequent lists for details of requisites.

Java14.license 1.4.0.1 # Java SDK 32-bit License
Java14.sdk 1.4.0.1 # Java SDK 32-bit

MISSING REQUISITES: The following filesets are required by one or more
of the selected filesets listed above. They are not currently installed
and could not be found on the installation media.

bos.mp 5.1.0.36 # Fileset Update
bos.mp64 5.1.0.37 # Fileset Update
bos.rte.libc 5.1.0.36 # Fileset Update
bos.up 5.1.0.36 # Fileset Update

<< End of Failure Section >>

aixport2# pwd
/mnt/installp/ppc
aixport2# ls bos.mp*
bos.mp bos.mp64
aixport2# ls bos.rte.lib*
bos.rte.libc_5.1.0.35.bff bos.rte.libcur_5.1.0.35.bff
bos.rte.libcfg_5.1.0.35.bff bos.rte.libpthreads_5.1.0.35.bff
aixport2# ls bos.up
bos.up

bos.rte.install for ML03 is 5.1.0.35, so I would guess that the filesets you listed are for ML03, which I would guess you are not at that level.

You can get the individual updated filesets from

You can find the level of the currently installed filesets on your system by using the lslpp command. For example

lslpp -l bos.rte.libc
If it isn't at this level, go to the above site and download and install the upgrad. Or else simply order the latest maintenance level CD from support line and do an update_all from this CD.

Have you managed to get all the pre-req files? I attempted but no matter how hard I search, I cannot find this file:

bos.mp64 5.1.0.37

Will be glad if anyone can help.

Thanks.

Hi all,

I'm trying to install Oracle 9i which requires JDK 1.3.1, this has not worked because of dependant software (devices.isa_sio.chrp.ecp.rte 5.1.0.10 -> 5.1.0.0). I'm using AIX 5100-03 and my devices.sio... is 5.1.0.35 and apparently no good.

Having given up on 1.3.1 for the time being, I'm now trying to install the latest JDK 1.4 and am having trouble with licence info ... how can I get it to accept the licence that I downloaded?

Any help really appreciated, thanks :)
