I'm attempting to install NNM (HP OV) and it requires a browser and windowing system. Java Desktop System is recommended.

I'm trying to figure out if it's already loaded on my Solaris 10 box, what packages should I look for ?

If it's not there can I download it off somewhere ? Sun's website says it's part of Solaris 10 but as we use a standard build for our servers it's possible it isn't included.

If you did a standard install of Solaris 10, then yes you have Java Desktop and Mozilla 1.7 installed.

Mozilla pkg
SUNWmoznav
SUNWmozmail
SUNWmozgm

What desktop environment are you currently using, CDE? You can remove your ~/username/.dt and chose the JAVA desktop on your next GUI login.

Thanks maximus, looks like it's not there. I'm not using any desktop as this is a server.

I know that a standard install of Solaris 10 includes java desktop but we use a build server to build our boxes and I have no control on what packages are part of the build.

Would you know where I can download Java Desktop from ?

I just checked and the server does have CDE installed on it.

Im not sure what the packages are for Java Desktop but they should be on the Solaris 10 media.

I have no experience with NNM but if it requires a windowing system then maybe you can export your display to a workstation that has JAVA Desktop running on it. Try to remote login from a work station, I have a feeling you will be promoted with a choice to use Java Desktop.

Thanks for all your inputs.

I ended up installing Mozilla and the HP Openview install seems to like that and went through. Now for the difficult part - configuring NNM.
