Java client error - poundsign in word

We are using iPlanet web server together with NFuse to start citrix applications.
Using the Java client we have an issue with the £sign (pound) not working in Word2000 SR-1 weather started through a desktop or published app.

Has anyone seen this before?
If you start a desktop session and run any other app the pound sign is ok!

Using the win32 client works fine.

language settings in the client?

Can't be becuase all the other apps are working ok on the same server, also win32 client is ok.
I also have checked the settings on both client and server and they are ok (uk keyboard layout).
I get nothing on the screen when hitting ctrl-3.

All applications apart from Word use the correct language settings when run via the Java client?

Maybe it's a language setting in Word?
