I recently upgraded from IE 5.5 to IE 6 for Win2K SP4.

I downloaded the JRE from http:\Java.com so that I could run Java applets.

Everytime I go to a site like Yahoo games I get an "On Demand" message saying that I need to dowload the Java Virtual Machine. If I click download, the applets will run. The problem is, that I get this message every time I visit one of the pages and I have to click the <Download> button before it will run the Java applet.

Even when I try to run the test applet for the JRE download I have to go thru the message before it willrun the applet.

Why do I have to do this every time?

See if you have the JIT enabled under the Java section of Internet Options, Advanced.

I tried to enable all 3 of the Microsoft VM options (console, logging, and JIT) and disabled the Sun option, but I still get the "Install On Demand" message. Is there some weird permutation of these that I need to set?

Under Internet Options, Advanced, checkmark both 'Install on Demand' entries.
