How do I convert a numeric string (i.e. "20350") to a packed decimal in Java.

I am filling fields using Java's BufferedWriter.

I need the fields in packed decimal format(COBOL PIC S9(5) COMP-3) because I am creating a file to be uploaded to the mainframe for use by a COBOL program. I need to convert this field on the Java side because converting it on the mainframe side would require a copy member expansion and lots of changes.

Thanks.....
