Java and IE6

When I click on buttons in IE6 I can see on the status bar that a javascript should be running and I should be seeing a window but I don't. If I load the same page in Netscape the javascript runs and I get to see the window. I'm quite sure I've enabled java in IE6 what else do I need to do to get it to work?

Go to Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > Settings > View Objects

See Java? What does the Status category indicate? If damaged, or if you see no entry for Java, go here and download a fresh copy:

(If you're replacing a damaged version, be sure you uninstall it first, before installing the new copy...don't try to overlay)

Because it happens in one browser and not the other,,,,,i'd say;
Try Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing......Put a check next to "Enable Third Party Browser Extensions"(Requires restart).........
There are also alot of java settings under the security tab....too varied to detail.....and may or may not help....

Java and JavaScript are not synonymous terms. They are different.

I would check to make sure you've got the Java Virtual Machine installed and enabled. If you need to get it, there's a link posted by carrr above. I would also take a look at your security settings and just set them to medium for the internet (default level).

On the advanced tab, make sure you have Java Console and JIT Compiler checked.

Let me ask??????????.....How often do any of you watch a "Javascript" run in a dos window????????

Found I had no Java at all, went online, got something, now have java runtime environment 1.4.2 showing when I "view objects".

Went to LLBean website and had mixed results, most of the time the scripts would work but sometimes they would either not work and say "error on page" or say there was an "error on page" but work anyway.

Had way to many choices at the Java site, what exactly, if there is an exactly, should one get if all I want to do is have my browser work?

Check off
"Disable Script debugging".......and
Unckeck
"Display a notif about every script error"
