Hi,

I have a problem, I am using a Windows 2000 SP4 PC which is up to date with all service packs.

I am presuming this is the correct place to post, being un familiar with Java I am unsure of why I am getting this error.

Basically, a user is trying to run a simply program for Gene research called Haplo View. This program needs the Java 2 level platform (Standard Edition, J2SE)
I have installed this (J2SE 1.4.2) which it recommends. Install the Java fine, then install the Haplo View program as it says and go to run it and get:

C:\Program Files\Haploview\haploview.jar is not a valid Win32 application.

If I run it locally (logged in as Administrator) it works, when the user log's in, It don't want to know. Work's fine on my machine, as well as various others in the building, just this one in particular I cant seem to get round! I have checked permission settings (after I discovered it was user profile linked) but these are all fine!

I cant think what else to do!!!

Help!!

You have to associate the "jar" extension with the program "javaw.exe", which should be in the bin directory of the jre.

On my windows 2000 you do this through Folder Options/File Types.

Wow, I tried everything else, and something as simple as a file association sorted this! Excellent, thank you so much for your help mate.

Adam.
