Japanese characters on my website

Hi all,
I store my Japanese lesson notes on my website for quick and easy access, but now we are beginning to use the hiragana and katakana characters a little bit more and I want to create a separate page to hold this information (separate from the introduction page so beginners don't have to worry about the language pack message popping up).

What I would like to know is where can I find a list of HTML special characters for Japanese? I know I can do things like & otilde but does it extend to Japanese characters?

Any suggestions would be helpful

You could also use images instead of characters.
