Hi All:

I have a few CAT5e jacks (some says 6) came off the an old installation plates, sure to have some user to it, it is siemon company brand, not exactly sure how to read/use the pins, can you help me out ?

on the back it the pins reads:

(upper left corner)
blue A
blue B
(lower left corner)
orange B
green A
(upper right corner)
orange A
green B
(lower right corner)
brown B
brown A

I have 4-pair CAT5 cable and 110 punch down tool, can you show me how to punch each wire into the jack so I can connect it with a regular CAT5 patch cable to a computer ?

Thanks
JC

the a or b designation tell you what color wire to punch to that pin if you want to be 568 a or b

most use b but it really dosnt matter if you use the same on each end.

little confused:

for example

does Green A pin means terminating the Solid Green wire of the CAT5 cable ?

and Green B pin means green strip color wire ?

the CAT5 patch cable I am using is:

right ---> left with the tab fact the ground

brown then brown strip
green then green strip
blue then blue strip
orange then orange strip

ignore the a we are just looking for b

so solid blue goes to one with a solid blue b
wht bl goes to one with a whit bl b

and so on

the patch cable dosnt matter as long as it is stright thu and not crossover

for straight thru hold both plugs next to each other and the cable colors should be identical

actually on the jack, all the pins is solid color, on the CAT5 cable I am using has 4 colors came with their strip counterparts

I saw something similiar to what I am looking for on Leviton's web site but the brand I have is Siemon

The Siemon jack layout looks like this:

4 pines on top, 4 pines on the bottom
labels looks like this: (where color indicate color symbol and X indicate location of the pins)

/ Blue A / Orange
/ Blue B / Green
--------------------
/ Orange B / Brown
/ Green A / Brown

The other side of the jack have RJ45 connector(female) pointing with release tab down and pins pointing up.

can you help me idendify the pins ?

Thanks very much for your replies
J

Yes the jack is like that, but the problem with that literture was they are black and white and it doesn't really give information about which color goes into what pins

From what I can tell the colors are on the jack and next to each color is a white space with a slash line in it. That is where the white wires go. Look close.

no the space is what I put in intentionally, there is not really anything to differentiate between color as far as I can see, I think slashes meaning which pin position

If the jack is the one in my link look CLOSELY at figure 3. The / to the left of the color is where you punch the white wire from each color group down.
