We have been asked to setup some remote SIP phones for a client. We run a test remote SIP phone into our office, using a Fortigate FW with no SBC and it works great. If this is for a client, would you recommend using an SBC at the clients site? They are only intending on a few remote workers today but this could go up if the initial remote users work out the way they are hoping. They run a Palo Alto firewall and were hoping to use the built in VPN feature of the phone to connect, but since the J series are SIP we do not want to convert to H323 for the remote phones.

Thanks,

I've done this with J-Series over ASBCE and it works very well.

I would recommend SBC because it is a good filter against potential hackers.
