I have an H.323 flashed J169 endpoint with 2 side modules and the 2nd side module goes dim after some time and isn't able to be woken up unless the phone is rebooted. I understand 3 modules requires an external power source, but I'm only running 2. I'm not seeing any settings for this. Anyone know of this issue?

It goes up to class 2 POE but there is a difference between JBM24 and JEM24. A J179 needs the external adapter when using 2 or 3 JEM24s while only needing it when using 3 JBM24s. It shouldn't matter with the J169, but you never know. Also, upgrade FW to latest

Going to try adding an external adaptor to one. Also, our network switches can alter the switchport setting to push power over additional pairs.

I see the documentation on the ability to upgrade these modules. The line the documentation references for the J100Supgrade.txt, which is SET JEM24_APPNAME FW_JEM24_R1_0_1_0_9.bin isn't listed in that J100upgrade file. Is that something I'd have to manually add?

Look in each firmware version. I had an issue with JEM 1.0.1.0.7 on H323 and from SOLN344938 I got the impression that the module firmware might only be included in the main bundle if it changed since the last release.

You using H323 or SIP firmware for the J series? The Jem24 are basically crap if you are using bridged appearances on h323 with 10 digit dial plan. The number won't fit and avaya has no plans to change it.

It's H.323 and the phone version is 6.8202 and the modules are showing:
expansion Module 1 - 1.0.0.0.13
expansion Module 2 - 1.0.1.0.8

In the folder with the firmware we see the .bin file, but in the J100Supgrade file there's no mention of the JEM24.

use 6.8.3 firmware and FYI the J series have a major flaw with the phone locking up if you use hot desking. I discovered the bug a year ago and it will be addressed in 6.8.4 which will be released later this year.

Looks like they pulled 6.8.3 from the downloads and 6.8.2 supersedes all other versions.

I think I got it.. looks like the 961xupgrade file is what the phone is looking at and not J100. Ours in progress.

Perhaps I got ahead of myself. I found the 6.83 FW and successfully got the phone to upgrade. When I check the craft menu the version of the modules is unchanged. Module 1 says 1.0.0.0.13 and Module 2 says 1.0.1.0.8. There is definitely a higher version of the JEM24 in the folder. When I read the documentation it says an upgrade from an older version to 1.0.1 can take up to 4 hours. I have definitely been sitting here closer to 5 hours and the version on these haven't changed and there's been no prompt indicating they are doing something. I know SIP is bit different with these, but I'm using H.323. Anyone know what I should be expecting with these? I'm reluctant to reboot it again and don't know if these will 'eventually' upgrade.

No just did some of these and they are looking for the j100 firmware and they can power 2 side cars from POE

I had the phone up with 2 modules over POE with no problem. Was waiting for whatever to happen with the upgrade of them and just rebooted. Now they get power but sit there with no buttons.

Apologies for hammering this thread, but these phones are behaving so bizarre. 6.83 firmware is causing the buttons on the module to be blank. Downgraded back to 6.82 and things were back to normal. However, the JEM24's are not rebooting. Remaining at 1.0.0.0.13 and 1.0.1.0 respectively. The 2nd module is randomly rebooting causing users of these to go crackers. We are connected to Cisco 9400 series switches that have been fine with all other endpoints.
