Hello All,

I have a J159 question. Looking at Avaya docs combined with some google searches, it appears that the J159 can have a j100 wireless card and can enable bluetooth. Of course the double fine print (Avaya style) turns out it is on Aura only. On IP Office, the j100 card works for wifi, but no mention of Bluetooth which means it does not do bluetooth. I confirmed that the 159 does not have bluetooth settings on IPO.

Does anyone know a workaround on the IPO ? perhaps 46xx modifications ?

The phone itself is obviously capable and it is just Avaya being Avaya with IPO.

There is SET BLUETOOTHSTAT 1 in 46xxsettings.txt so I assume this enables it.

Can you see Bluetooth on the phone menu? I think it needs firmware from 4.0 onward

I can't see any Bluetooth settings on the IPO.

According to the notes from the distributor I use, Bluetooth is only an option on the J179, and only on SIP firmware.

Thanks nnaarrnn and derfloh.

Strange as the J100 module supports wifi and bluetooth!

Yes, but they've reserved bluetooth for the J179 and K155 for some reason. (probably to release a $100 license for it later)

I don't think we go a week around the office without saying at least once, "Avaya is being Avaya".

The J179 works perfectly and can do everything on IPO, yet they go out of their way to nerf the smaller models. Pretty convenient that the J139 has all the features on ACO but yet it is "missing" half of them on IPO. Even a simple call coverage is not possible on the j139s.

What I find ironically funny is the J129 can have both wifi and bluetooth on IPO with the j100 card.

-----

Once the card is in the 179(and 129), a option appears in the menu settings on the phone automatically on both IPO and Aura. When the card is put in the 159, the same menu appears automatically on Aura only. It does not appear when connecting to an IPO.

I will try adding that to the 46xx on Monday and see what happens.

What happens when you remove the

SET ENABLE_IPOFFICE 2

In the 46xxsettingsfile?

Having just added a J159 to a Server Edition running R11.1 FP2, the phone upgraded to 4.0.10.2.1 (phew, I've seen some support notices around that) and happily shows the Bluetooth icon and menus. Haven't actually connected a device to it but certainly seems good.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
