IWR Message Log

Hi,

I'm getting the following error in my message logs:

GPGNTFS267 undefined GPGNTFS267, 2976(fb4), 2003/07/31 15:18:30.779; Error: 0, Generic; Process ID: 2976; Thread: 4020; Host: GPGNTFS267; Text: Failed upload the local log file to the central message database; BackTrace Info: 1. File Name: Y:\src\iwr\IWR\IWRMsgCollector\iwrmsgcollector.cpp; Line#:150; Desc.:Failed upload the local log file to the central message database; 2. File Name: Y:\src\iwr\IWR\IWRMsgCollector\iwrmsgcollector.cpp; Line#:155; Desc.:IWRMsgCollector::uploadFile; Impromptu Web Reports_ IWSvcMan ErrorHandler 2003/07/31 15:18:30.779

The file names look like: IWRMessage07312003161930.uld and are created just about every minute

These errors may be avoid by recreating the IWR message log file as follows -

1. Stop the Cognos Communication service and IWR services.

2. Search for the iwrmessage.log file on the server and rename it.

3. From a command prompt window, go to the following ../Program Files/Cognos/cer1/bin directory and type -

iwrdumpmsg <output_filename>

4. Type (case sensitive) -

osserver -con -ReallocateLog

5. Restart the services.

We tried this and got addtional errors, we have since rebuilt the Message Database with iwcreateddb and that seems to have worked

That was my next suggestion =) The syntax, in case anyone else needs it is iwcreatedb -job (if you miss the switch, it recreates them all, and bye bye current reportsets...)

We got the same message error message in the event viewer:

File Name: S:\Imp60\IWR\IWRMsgCollector\IWRMsgCollector.cpp; Line#:121; Desc.:IWRMsgCollector::uploadFile;

Can anyone (Waspy? ) explain what is the &quot;local log file&quot; and what is the db that cognos tries to upload it into? Is this the iwrmsg.db? Is there's a way to overcome it without re-craeting all database?
I tried the &quot;iwcreatedb -job&quot; but the error message still returns.

Still, regarding my previous question: Is it possible (for a cognos support person) to get a hand on this IWRMsgCollector.cpp code file to see what the hack this error message is all about?
