hi

newsitem deletion problem in upfront. published impromptu retorts using reports publishing. after that deleted the reportset. the newsitems created on the upfront remains (i hav to admit that this happns sometimes, not always). and after in upfront if i try to delete the items, i am getting 5-6 lines error alert.

"The object type (NewsItem Sales History) cannot be deleted. An Internal Error occured. There was a syntax error in XML response...................... Please contact your administrator."

for the time being i moved those news items to some folder and separated. but trying to findout a way to clear them.

anyone know?
thanks

I usaully just delete any reports from Upfront and remove them from the reportset source location. No need to republish reportset just to delete reports.

In this instance have you tried republishing the original reports and then deleting them from upfront ?

i) published reports (reportset)
ii) deleted the reportset
iii) result on upfront is some links still exists (happens sometimes only)
iv) cant delete the dummy links on the upfront

Try

i) republish reportset
ii) delete reports from upfront
iii) delete reportset

1. republish will create a duplicate entry in the upfront
2. deletion of the fresh items possible, error remains for old items
3. delete reportset deletes the new newsitems

Fresh out of ideas then, these will be held in the data store and I don't recommend messing about there.

:) i also first thought so, then its risky. so for the time being moved them to a newsbox where noone except me got access.

thanks,
sudhi

This error happens if the Gatway information in the upfront newsbox item properties is not setup properly or not matching up the value in the Configuration manager settings. Update the Gateway information in the adv properties of the Newsitem and you should be all okay.

Thanks,
