When trying to do backups through a modem I get error "Save Unknown Error". Support says this is a known problem, but I need to do a backup! Support said to try a different operating system. I have tried Windows 95, NT and 2000, still no luck. I have also tried using Matworx 3.53 to no avail. My local support guy can do a backup through a modem using Windows 98 and Matworx 3.0.8. Anyone else having these problems? Can anyone advise???

What is the latest version of MATWorX you have? You may need to get the latest Service Pack for the version you are trying to use.

I am using Matworx 3.61 with Service Pack 4.

Probably going to need to get NEC's TAC involved.

No, never have resolved. I spoke to NEC who stated it's a known problem. We use Expanets as first point of contact for telephone stuff and they received the same error. They also stated NEC doesn't support backups through a modem. I have a MAT Q cable which Expanets stated could be direct connected and a backup could be done. I was able to do a backup but when trying to verify the backup received an error. So at this point I'm not sure whether I got a good backup or not.

Seems like this problem is only on the older 2000 IVS systems. My IVS2's and IPS's backup fine via modem. Well darn, I was hoping I wouldn't have to drive to the site in a hurricane, but looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet.

The reason NEC doesn't support backups by modem is because if you were to get a disconnect during the backup, it might corrupt system data. We'll see if I can get a good answer from someone on this issue, though. Will let you know.

No, I haven't. I'm very new to NEC systems. I found the Matworx software, loaded it, and have been learning stuff as I go. That's when I decided it would be a good idea for a backup...but that's when the problems started.
