well, I've got Adobe Photoshop version 4.0, and to be honest, I don't want 4.0 any more, and I can't afford any of the newer versions. It won't work well on larger pictures

are there any free patches/less expensive upgrades that'll let me bring my version of Photoshop up to date, Without having to buy an entirely new program?

You don't need to buy an entirely new Photoshop. Upgrade from version 4 to the current version for $150

If you don't need cmyk color (for professional print) you could consider Photoshop Elements. It's do a heck of a lot more than 4 and will probably do all you need. A lot of profesional photographers that we work with use it.

Think it costs about $89 but the proce varies all over the lot by different dealers.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4
