I've got 2 Magix locations connected by PRI, each has it's own Merlin Messaging card. All calls are answered by the main location, and transfered to the remote site. The problem is, in the morning, when the operater transfers general delivery messages to their respective mailboxes, she can't transfer across the T1 to the other VM system. Any solution?

Any reason for the two VM's. You could set it up as a PRI and use the electric tandem network and centralized VM. That way you could do what you wish without loosing any functionality.

I didn't order it this way, the customer would freak if I told him he bought the other VM for nothing. If it were me, I wouldn't have even sold him a 2nd cabinet. MCK makes a nice unit that extends 24 channels to a remote location over a T1. You don't need to renumber, or do routing tables or anything. I still do the maintenance on the system for a former employer, so I don't want to rat him out for over selling.

Then you are in the part I dislike most about my job, the political part. The only other solution I can think of involves conf. Do you really want to go there. I know you can network the MAP 5 with an ISDN or 56k line, I forget which one. I have never seen it done either so I have no spec. on that. I would talk to your former employer and have him explain why he sold it the way he did.

He is an Esi dealer, and the customer wanted a big name system (Avaya)so he just bought what his vendor(Voda One)
said he needed. It was my first Magix, so I didn't know better at the time

My original thinking on this is that it can't be done. It sounds as if it would be like a 'Direct to VM' between the two systems (which can't be done). If this is a problem, then your only solution is Centralized VM, as mentioned by jinxs. Since the situation involves a previous employer, unless they're still signing your paycheck, I would think your loyalty belongs to your current employer and the customer. unless of course you're the one that sold them the 2nd messaging module.

There is no 2nd employer, I'm on my own. Trouble is, I still get the the bulk of my work from my previous employer. I actually collect all of the maintenance fees from the customers and provide the service to them, along with wiring jobs ect...

Fsoz,

tell your customer there is a software patch which will enable them to run everything on one voice mail system. Tell him you will take the 2nd mail in lue of charging him for the changes. You get a voice mail, the customer gets his programming and features for free, and everybody can stay happy. Unfortunately, your previous employer mistakenly oversold the cusomter, which happens, and you can't go back and fix that, so do the next best thing for your customers funtionality. If you aren't comfortable with solution, then go to your former empolyer and see if they are willing to offer the customer a refund on the 2nd mail.

I'll give you fifty bucks for the old VM....

(Just kidding......)
