Trying to download itunes on laptop with XP Pro 64 service pack 2.
Getting error message "requires vista 64 bit installer"
I thought I had proper system requirements. Why won't this download?
I don't care if I have to use an older version of itunes.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

64bit version of ITunes not supported on XP. It only lists Vista and up. Use the 32bit.

Thanks but
I don't see an option to choose 32 bit when going to that link.

That's because there isn't a 32bit 'version' (actually iTunes.exe itself is 32 bit; it is the drivers that are 64 bit) for running on XP 64bit. Never has been, as far as I am aware.

Apple have never supported running iTunes at all on XP 64bit

There are hacks, e.g.: How good they are I don't know

What did people do before Vista?
I'm sure I had itunes on old laptop (windows XP)...

That'll have been a 32bit version of XP - which iTunes did support.

Thanks
I'll maybe try the support option from itunes and if that doesn't work I'll take another look at the website you mentioned. (It may work but is exraordinarily complex.) Seems ludicrous that a company in businees to sell music would make it so difficult to buy their stuff.I'm sure there's lots of XP out there.

Yes, lots and lots of XP 32bit. Almost zero XP 64bit. No one really wanted it, no one really used it. So no one really supported it.

I've never seen a 64bit XP machine in all my years of playing IT person. Maybe one, can't be sure.
