It's slow in application

SP4
OS= W2K
Client = 4.81
Office 97
NDPS Printers
Server NIC : 100


When we use Word or Excel (in Local, but some options path are on the server) , it's very slow. By exemple when I click the setup page , it take about a minute to open.

What is the problem ? Is it the client version ?

Firstly, is your server connected at 100Mb Full Duplex or 100Mb Half Duplex. Ensure the server is 100Mb Half Duplex.

Secondly, what protocol(s) do you use? IP, IPX, IP & IPX?

Thirdly, do you get this problem on other apps? -----------------------------------------------------

The server is 100Mb half duplex , we use Ip & IPX and the problem is only with Office application.

We had the same effect with client 4.81. Go to the client properties, advanced settings, Highlight File Caching and change the value to "Off".

It's better to do that on the server:

SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED = OFF -----------------------------------------------------

Also, have you got your printers setup to use the NDS queue name rather than \\SERVER\QUEUE ?? -----------------------------------------------------
